And a compost heating scheme makes sense with all the waste organic matter around a farm also, the BTU value of manure is relatively worthless for fertilizer as all the biological activity will happen in the compost pile or soil, there is no loss by using the heat off the breakdown of the remaining carbs in manure. Methane digesters capture a tiny portion of the energy value, and they're being built all over, a compost heater would be much simpler and more "efficient".
Using compost heat makes sense, but silage would be such a waste.
