NE Kansas | Ambrook (I have no affiliation with them, what so ever. I also use QuickBooks for a manufacturing business I own.)
I would also add that, if you are not accountant minded (I'm not), spend the time and $ to sit with an accountant that understands agriculture enterprises to help set up the chart of accounts. Every expense will be coded to an account. You don't want to make it overly complicated but you do want to keep it detailed enough to provide the information you're needing. Ambrook has good customer support that can also help with this. Agriculture is not unique in the fact that there are a lot of moving parts. Accounts payable, receivable, depreciation, pre-paid expenses, work in progress, inventory, etc., etc. Find an accountant that can explain these things to you in a common sense manner and help you get started with what ever software you choose.
This is an investment that will be worth it's weight in gold. For your peace of mind and his decision making.
