T & B Sta-Kon's. I have used them for years. USAF and GM. Almost every electrician I worked with used them. I keep a few pair around. The Channel Lock look similar but I have never tried them.

The T & B have distinctive orange and black handles so you can tell which way to put the split in (as a previous poster noted). However I just look at the pliers and put the split in the "curve".

I've seen bad connections but I honestly can't remember making one with these pliers.
