Is piston scuffing on #6 on a 5.9 a thing if they get a little too hot? Only 12 valve engines?
No. 6 scuffing the piston bore was an issue more so in the later higher hp HPCR engines. Even ones at factory hp settings.They need the frost plug mod for sure if you're pushing any extra power. I'd put it in for a stock HPCR 5.9 if I had the chance, can't hurt!
The 12V didn't seem to have that issue as much for whatever reason, even on one's that were putting out some pretty serious power.
That's my observations anyway, others may have a different opinion.
