NE ND | I was taught in automotive classes that when you put the, say blue butt connector, in the plier, the split in the connector's metal needs to go to the top side of the U shaped part (female side of crimping slot) of your crimping plier. The poker, or male side (now no funny comments! :-)), whatever you want to call it pushes in 180 degrees opposite the split. If you don't do this and have it reversed you most likely smash down one side of the split and the connector is loose and it can be pulled apart.
I have two pliers, one snap-on/blue point and one cheapy chinese. I crimp a lot with the chinese as described and they don't pull apart. | |
