South Central MN | There are certainly methods to track inputs and expenses that cross over between calendar year and cropping/livestock cycles. As others have said, look up accrual accounting & enterprise analysis. It's not simple but not difficult either.
Personally, not knowing what my financial position is would drive me crazy with anxiety. I don't understand on any level guys that say things like "don't let finances get in the way of your marriage". Yes, who's individual income pays what for which expense doesn't matter, but how you're doing overall as financial partners certainly does matter. I don't blame you one bit for wanting to know more.
Once you know your financial position you're in much better position to know when to be aggressive or protective in risk management or in major life choices like leaving a town job. | |
