Oklahoma | Lots of good points already mentioned. My wife and I have our share of issues over finances and we aren't doing near what you all are. A friend recommended Ranching for Profit even though most of my overheads are tied up in specialty crops that are hit and miss. I was already looking at RFP but it was way out of my price range. Still would like to go to RFP but just couldn't pull it off this year. Noble Foundation in Ardmore OK got connected with RFP and started doing short courses that are shorter versions of Ranching for Profit topics. They did a 2 day profitability workshop that I attended a few months ago. I knew most of the concepts but didn't know exactly how to track things that roll from one enterprise to another (hay produced on our ground vs hay bought, calves weaned and held over on grass or put on wheat, crops held over until next year, ect). It isn't RFP but it doesn't have that cost. They had 2 or 3 scheduled for this fall around the southern plains. I don't remember the schedule for this winter and spring. I wanted my wife to go but was good for me to go and start tracking numbers better. Hope to revisit after the first of the year when I have 2 years of data run through their program. | |
