Fontanelle, IA | Based upon your post, I’d say it is understandable and legitimate to want to understand your farming business. My wife signs on the bottom of op notes and machinery notes just like me- so there is absolutely NO point in minimizing things if they bother her (or you).
My only advice would be to seek out a program called “Annie’s Project” or equivalent in your area which is strictly for farmHers or farming-involved women. There are so many different levels of involvement and awareness of the women in those programs that it becomes a really great mentor ship and community. No question is ever out-of-bounds or too basic. Just enroll and do it. Plug yourself into the program and dig in. You can start to build out what your financial picture is - like putting together a puzzle.
My wife did a few sessions of Annie’s Project and we had some great conversations about the farm resulting from it. However, I wish she would have made them ALL and then re-enrolled in the next offering of the program.
