N.W. Ohio | Yes, there definitely is a growing obesity problem. But to totally blame the food is akin to blaming a gun for killing someone! I’m 63 and when I was a kid we were outside playing, burning off a lot of calories nearly each and every day. And so were all of the neighbors! So fast forward to present day. I can drive for a long while on the most beautiful days and not see a single kid outside playing and burning off those calories. So what has changed?? Social media, cell phones that give you access to nearly everything online, video games…..Sure blame the food. But I believe these are a major cause of a sedentary lifestyle for both youth and adults. And honestly I think once people start down this path, it tends to snowball because their body and brain feels more and more like it doesn’t want to seek out that activity. For adults it’s basically a lifestyle choice for the most part. For kids, I will put the blame on the parents for not pushing them towards more physical activity. Flame away, but this is my honest opinion. | |
