Don't think you can drain all the plumbing.
That would allow sewer gas to enter when traps are dry.
You would need to put anti freeze in traps.
I would always shut water off where it enters.
Had a pipe spring a leak one night while we were sleeping just across the hall and it would have been much worse if a daughter was not going to work early and noticed a small leak downstairs just before she left the house.
What all would you do to winterize a house?
