I just kinda do this by the seat of my pants.
Butter
Honey
Dash or 2 of liquid smoke
Red pepper flakes
Couple tablespoons of lemon juice
Melt all the ingredients in a skillet, then marinate the salmon for a half hour or so and then broil or cook the salmon on the gas grill spooning the butter/honey mixture on as it cooks
