I would try and get cattle associations, dairy to go after state law. They did a big over reach over federal law. So is the state paying for the tags?
Haha yeah right. Originally the tags had to be bought from the holstein association so I'm guessing there was some money trading hands behind the scenes. It's been in place for nearly 20 years here so I can't see them giving up that free money grab. We have to buy the tags out of our own pocket
Edit: Initially we were issued metal ear clips that if it remember correctly were free from the vet (had to buy the $25 tagger). That quickly changed to the rfid tags that we had to buy, along with another tagger.
