If I remember eradication was to release sterile male fly's. Would of been in the 1970's that we had a outbreak here in California. It was a busy fall, calves took a lot more attention than normal. But temperature cooled and that was the end of the problem.
I suppose we have removed all infrastructure to create the sterile flies.
