Some of these 3/4 ton pickups were equipped with 1 ton rear axles. Most thought they were in Heaven because they could remember a 200 gallon pull sprayer behind an Oliver 77 tractor.
c20(2wd) with a 454 only. GM's reasoning, was that if you bought a big-block c20, then you were likely buying it for hot-shot trailer pulling. For that, the 10.5" ring gear would last longer than the 9.5" ring gear in most 1980's 3/4-ton trucks.
