Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Dad had a few Fords of that era that had Overdrive. I believe this was a third party addon but it might have been a genuine Ford product. This was on the models with 4 speed transmission. It was installed ahead of the regular transmission and allowed overdrive in gears 1-3. A stick protruded outside the left side of the casting between the clutch and the regular transmission. Overdrive was blocked out for 4th gear since that would have been extremely fast.
I remember pulling a 3 section Deere rotary hoe with it. I would use 3rd Overdrive to get some speed. It had a tough time making it around the ends when I slowed down.
Later in history my Brother traded off the regular Ford with a loader for one of those "blue" Ford models. They were available in a 3 or 4 cylinder diesel, probably gasoline also.
Later yet, my Brother traded it in on an industrial Ford Loader. It was yellow/cream in color. It had a very heavy duty loader with a self contained hydraulic system. The hydraulic pump was driven directly off the front of the tractor. The loader frame was used as the hydraulic reservoir.
