Just a guess, I bet solar developers would fall over themselves to trade all renewable energy tax credits for a removal of the tariffs on solar panel imports. No cheaper way to make electricity right now.
I have solar in the Philippines.
You are correct. Solar panel prices have halved in the last 12 months. You can get a 600 watt panel here for $80 USD, and that's the retail price I can get if I buy 10. I'm guessing wholesale less than $60.
A 600 watt panel will make 3 to 4 kwh a day. At 5 cent a kwh 15 to 20 cents a day. $80/.20 is 400 days to breakeven.
Also wholesale cost of home scale batteries in china are around $125 per kwh. Half what they were 12 months ago.
Exciting times ahead for those willing to participate. At sub $100/kwh batteries, many could easily go off grid.
There will be ways to make this work for bin sites soon. No more paying 100's thousands for bringing in 3 phase.
