Pretend all we want , in the end solar will win. It’s a matter of efficiency. Ethanol has too many moving parts to win long term. We must till, fertilize, plant spray chemicals, harvest ,haul, refine, etc. to be given the chance to blend with oil, a lot of which has to be found, shipped, defended, refined, etc. The largest oil reserves on the planet are held by Venezuela, and Saudi Arabia, which we are not always on the best terms with. Is sunlight hits a panel, travels through a wire and runs our house or automobile , and lasts 40 years without replacement, long term we are in trouble. Short term, not so much. Just my two cents. I guess I don’t believe ethanol will really run the world unless we really screw up our foreign markets. I hope I’m wrong.
If talking efficiency, hydro power wins every time.
As for oil, look up "abiogenic oil" when you get a minute. Not everything is as we have been told...
If it weren't for government intervention, I doubt fuel ethanol would be a thing at all. |
