SW WI | I was on our town boards land use planning committee in the late 90’s. Several were pushing the 10/20/ 40 acre minimum for building in our township. I argued against. You will never stop urban sprawl. The 10/20/ 40 acre minimum, in my mind, eats up more acres at a faster pace that won’t be farmed…..or maybe farmed but not efficiently.
Congregate the houses on what makes sense with utilities and infrastructure to support it, as economically as possible. Sure….winners and losers based on desirable land for development.
Don’t hide behind protecting farmland when your rules don’t really give results. | |
