Guessing you want it for fire/police. Depends on what your locality uses. If they went digital P25 or whatever it's called then you have to have a P25 scanner and they aren't cheap, like $600+ . Find out what your neighbors have and go that route. I have a uniden 396xt it does the P25 stuff here. They don't make them anymore but you can get them on ebay for $250.
