That is the engine casting number.
That number suggests 1960 thru 1964.
Thanks. Figured out the one he just bought was a 1961 841 model. I'll say one thing, they put a road gear in it. I have Dad's 420 JD and you can about count the rocks in the road gravel as you drive down the road on it.
