Louise, TX | I have had an 06 folding North Star 12R38 (first wide row in USA).
Bought it used in 13. It has been the most trouble free piece of equipment on the farm.
Put new knives and bearings when I bought it. Previous owner had ran it over 15,000+ acres. We did complete stalk roll change before this season. I have ran it over 20,000 plus acres.
Only minor issue I have is the locking cylinders will bleed internally. I keep spares change and rebuild as needed.
When deck plates get worn we just cut rod off and weld new rods on.
Bought a rotodisc at auction in 23. Completely rebuilt it. Added another combine. We had to pick all corn off ground do to Hurricane Beryl. Both did well picking corn off ground. Liked to job the rotodisc did, so both another one on auction out of Louisiana.
North Star is folded up in barn, will keep for time being.
