I have bought both models used in the past and covered a quite a few acres with the used machines.
The hitch and hitch leveling mechanism on a DMI II is much better than a DMI I, and the DMI II shank/spring assemblies are much better at preventing the spring "T" bolts from wearing out. Those two things differences alone justify the higher resale price IMO.
