They’re both good machines. What headers for each and what crops do you harvest?

Claas has the better pickup head. Big drum Kemper is the better corn head, then Orbis, then small drum Kemper, then Claas RU. If you’re doing any earlage, JD is the better machine because of the rocker frame on the feedroll case. It’s not a big deal with heads smaller than a 12 row, but even an 8 row will crack the Claas feedroll case eventually. Not an insurmountable problem, but be ready to weld the cracks when you rebuild the feedroll case (every couple thousand hours). The JD may or may not have the heavy header drive though. That would be preferable to have if you’re going to run earlage.
