OooK, that really doesn't address your issue, and you're saying that one of the fundamental pillars of stockmanship and breeding should be ignored? The Angus pot is a big one, you can almost crossbreed within the breed, but even my friend would say that's wrong. The nagging problem with Angus is they veered hard right to breed for $cow, at the expense of feet and docilty and fertility in many cases. Never know, your progressive neighbor may switch back
He told me that one of his consistent buyers of his char cross smokes didn’t show up one time a few years ago so there was very little competition for his calves. Straight Angus calves 150 pounds lighter bringing just as many dollars per head. He said you can always sell an Angus calf. I found it hard to believe he would jump ship like he did but that’s what said. |
