Holland, Indiana (SW IN) | I read you are conventional tillage
SO here is my answer as to what we did NT ---have a DMI outfit (so the knife is adjusted close to the cutter)
We cut the knife off so it only goes in about 1" ----the cutter goes in about 3"
We didn't like the longer knives "cut a trench and a huge rain would erode soil"
For us I like the way your rig is now BUT at high pressures N splatters everywhere
We plan on selling our DMI liquid rig
2025 will use N 40# 2X0 at planting --- at 4" tall or so all our P and K dry and a total of 150# of N in some form ---Then dribble "drag hose" or Y drop up to 100# of N 24-36" corn
All N with Sulfur
All subject to change and definitely NOT an answer to your question
We didn't like knives "tended to drag up with the way we do things"
Good luck
Dan
Add Purdue research form years back "doesn't matter how deep ---N under the surface in a band"
