Subject: drinking water vs whole house

Pittsburg, Kansas
We have had a reverse osmosis unit in our garage for about a dozen years now. Have changed the reverse osmosis filter once and have another one I should put it. It supplies a seperate sink outlet for the filtered water and another line goes to our fridge so the ice is also filter water.

This is not a "whole house" filter system. Only the drinking water and ice. Has worked great. We also have a whole house filter ahead of it for the whole house and I give this some credit for not having to change the RO filter very often. They say to change it once a year. I don't. We had a similar system in our previous house for probably ten or 15 years prior. Under 500 bucks. I think ours back then was under 200.

Not hard to install. I did the one in our old house and the guys doing my remodel did it in our current house. Not rocket science. I think our current one is a GE.
