| I’m about to start my 3rd year all no-till cotton in south plains of TX with a winter wheat cover crop. I’ve seemed to struggle the past 2 managing fertilizer on drip irrigated cotton in the no till and my yields have been down 20-25% from prior conventional till years. This year I tried putting all my fertilizer out through the tape that I could and ran out of time getting it all out so I’m not doing that again, too many small issues to be trying to get small amounts delivered and out seems like every day.
I’ve always put out prob 60% of total needs out as preplant dry in the past and incorporated it in with a field cultivator or with the rodweeder - can’t do that anymore though with the no till and the issue has been the lack of rainfall in the spring. I haven’t felt good about broadcating large amounts of dry out and waiting for a rain that might be weeks/months in coming - is that waht I’m going to have to do though? I’ve thought about hooking up the side dress rig and putting liquid out preplant but thats going to take forever as many gallons as I would have to apply. What are you guys doing and seeing success with? | |
