Gruver Tx
I like what pvafarm said about the source of compaction. I have had better luck with rape later in fall than radishes. Rape usually has to get in single digits to get terminated. It won’t have the large tuber but works longer and collects more sunlight than my experience with radishes. If I can’t plant radishes in August they don’t do very much. We have had a warm fall this year and covers have done well but some years broadleaves get killed early by a drop into the 20s. I had trouble planting low rates of covers if didn’t mix with a cereal with the drill I had the first few years. Less is more in my experience and hard to not get population too high. I have a Valmar box that does low rates well but there are better equipment alternatives now.
