I've read lots of threads about guys cutting starter out completely. I'm going to prove this to myself this next year. I'll stick with my 10-34-0, zinc and biologicals on some acres, just the biologicals on some acres, and nothing at all on some acres. The only thing I'm not set up to do is nitrogen on top over of the row as I'm all in furrow. Any thoughts?
seems in our area you'll see someone add starter to a planter and run it for a few years, then when they upgrade planters they aren't running starter anymore. it looks good visually and might pay some years, but most years not, and the years it pays doesn't outweigh fighting clogged strainers and fittings breaking and spraying fertilizer all over the planter and tractor. Seems most all the planters north of Iowa, Illinois and Indiana have starter systems, so it's probably a very regional thing. Sounds like you already got it installed, run the trials and let the data guide your decision. |
