I install waterers. The issues I see is that guys want me to put in a cobbet and backfill with gravel and dirt and don’t like them because they don’t work very well like you are saying. But anytime I install a Ritchie, mirafount, or tire tank they get a bunch of nice concrete with a ledge to keep the cattle from backing up to them. It’s an easy call. If you have power there or close Ritchie if power isn’t an option cobbet. I don’t think a Ritchie holds much more than a cobbet. It has more area but it isn’t worth much if they are sucking air. A cobbet valve can flow a lot of water!
