Yes there are. Some are more bio available than others. Some work better as a laxative than others. Some are cheaper than others so get used in the cheap supplements and daily vitamin type stuff.

Magnesium Threonate is one that will pass the blood brain barrier. It is much more expensive than most of the others and may or may not help if for some reason the brain needs it. I can't tell you why that might be, but that is its claim to fame anyway.

Magnesium glysynate (sp) is supposed to be one of the better ones but it tastes like dog crap (really nasty) so it is best in a capsul rather than pill form.

Milk of Magnesia mixed with soda water is supposed to be one of the best forms, at least according to the Wheat Belly (book) doctor. I forget what his name is. Wife and I took it for a couple years that way. Works fine. We just got out of the habbit. The soda water supposedly changes the form into a much more bio available form. Supposedly.

I would not swear in a court of law to any of the above. Just what I think I might have learned.
