Jim, normally I agree with you, but not this time. I've used impeller machines since 1993, all Deere. Never, not once, broke a rear glass. Wait a minute, that's mostly true, mowed a lot with a 4020
Has nothing to do with the impeller, have you pulled a 835 with the three light weight canvas's across the front? I bet the answer is no you have the smaller mower with a one piece canvas.
I pulled a Khune (with one canvas) for nine years never had a rock come out of the mower.
With the deer in the same fields- in the first year and a half I busted three back windows and each of the side windows. Bolted some baler belting to the bottom of the mower canvas's and haven't busted a window in the last year and a half.
The canvas's on the 835 deer mower ARE to damn light weight.
