This was Ralphie Mays take on it. It has language some will be offended by, so be forewarned.

Many years ago, before GMO crops, we hired migrants annually. Mostly for Sugar beets, but also dry beans. No GMO dry beans today far as that goes, but better herbs are available.

I always required I 9's before hiring any crews. And everyone had to have one. Far as I know, all of them were here legally. I also grew some produce for a couple years. Very small acreage, but more than my family and I could plant and harvest on our own. Tried hiring local kids to help, it was a losing proposition. The migrants we hired for beets could do more in a couple hours after supper than I could get twice as many high school kids to do all day.

None of that justifies an open border. There's 2 functions our federal Government is supposed to do. Protect our borders and deliver the mail. Not doing a stellar job in either case. I don't think rounding up every illegal is going to be doable- it was a good campaign slogan though. Yep, I get it: illegal is illegal. I'd be really satisfied with a one and done deal on the bad actors. Break a law once, get locked up and a ride south as soon as the sentence is up. Thats even going to take a while I'm afraid, but its a better solution than whats going on now.
