In your second instance I would have gave her the two $50s and when I only received $10 back I would have told the waitress "You made a mistake, I gave you two $50s not a $50 and $20, where is the rest of the change?" Depending on the response I would have asked to talk to the manager.
What would you have said to the manager? Have you had good success with manager confrontations in the past?
