Buhl, ID | MVE is most common but do see Linde once in a while and there was a French made tank I can't remember the name. I don't think it matters at all where they're made. MVE stands for Minnesota Valley Engineering, a spinoff company from when Minn Valley Breeders Assn. went bust 35 years ago.
I have a MVE 20/20 and XC34/18 in the back of my pickup all the time. The MVE models have first number is liters, and second number is rated weeks of holding time, the XC means "extra capacity" or fatter neck for bigger cans.
Any tank will use more N being in the wind than being indoors, and the more often you open the cork the more N you'll use. Both my tanks get filled every three weeks and the one in back of the pickup getting opened 10x per day uses almost half its N in that time while my 20/20 is in the shop hardly uses any.
I bought the 20/20 used from Craigslist. The XC34/18 I bought new about 6-7 years ago. Genex had a "sale" on tanks so I priced one and it was still $100 higher than Semex's regular price. Think it was around $700 at that time iirc.
Whether you buy new or used, expect the first fill in a warm tank to guzzle half the N in the first week to get the inner tank cooled down. After that I would not expect any problems with different brands.
Edit to add, I used have a fat neck 32/8 that was a good technician tank. Neck was fat enough to reach your hand in when the N was down to the bottom couple inches. If you dropped a rack in the bottom you could reach down into the N really quick to grab it.
