NC Iowa | we had to decide what to do in a similar situation 2 years ago. house was built in 1800's. 3 generation house, so a lot of sentimental value. no basement, built on fieldstone. poor wiring, poor plumbing, poor windows, ect, ect. and it needed a new roof too. burned it down. hated to to it, as it was the house grew up in, and it had very nice floors, doors, woodwork. it just wasn't practical to throw 125k into it, as we would still have a old farm house. i hope one of my daughters will marry a farm boy. they will have a very nice house to get a start.
will have about 160k in the new one by the time we are done.. | |
