Coldwater, Michigan | I have worn the Free Style Libra 14 day for 6-7 years. They are getting to the point they don't want to supply sensors for the FSL14 day. So more or less going to force my into a newer monitor. Because I am on Medicare part B my insurance company PU most of the cost. 14 days ago I got a new Libra 3 with just 1 sensor for what my prescription called for 6 sensors. Apparently the Libra 3 sensors have been recalled so those sensors are next to impossible to get. Finally someone figured out if you can't get the 3's, that you can get the 3+ sensors which work just fine with the Libra 3 programing. So in effect I am now wearing/using a 3+ .
Compared to the Libra 14 day, this one (Libra 3+) is a lot less hassle and provides a lot more information to the user. Takes samples of your blood once a minute, and lasts 15 days. I don't use the reader that come with it, I just use the programing that I can put on my phone. If you get more than 33 feet away from the reader, or your phone, for too long, it will send a loud beeping sound warning you it has misplaced itself. It beats having to stick your figures 4-5 times or more per day! and better information than just a finger stick.
They warn you not to wear it swimming for more than a 1/2 hour, or lower than 3 feet deep. If you are going to do that it would probably be a good thing to wear tape over it.
I had bumped the "Libra 14 day" a few times and they would quit working (They always replaced them). The Libra 3 and 3+ are much smaller than the "Libra 14 day" and are somewhat smaller then the "Libra 2". The Libra 3 and 3+ are about the size of a penny.
