Subject: Drive system suggestions for small planter

Bunker Hill, IL
I’ve got the wild idea to build a 7 row planter out of left over parts from a 1770NT update.
I want 7 15” rows on a 120” 7x7 mounted bar where I can lock up the splitter rows.

I don’t want to mess with any monitor or control system.

I have the ground drive transmission off the 1770, and all the drive components yet.

However, with 7 rows, there won’t be room between rows for a drive transmission.

I could do some sort of hydraulic drive, but it seems too complicated for what I want, and hard to set planting rate properly without a monitor.

The only solution I can see is two ground contact tires on the ends of the bar that I could mount the transmission to one of them. But I don’t see used wheel and arm assemblies readily available or cost effective.
