Wisconsin | When talking about 60 series combines, I see guys tend to like the later built units vs the earlier. What all did Deere improve on the later models? We run an '05 9660 and I'm just curious if there are upgrades that could be done and if they are worth it.
Our machine already has the high rate unload and auto steer, but I did read that Deere offers an air intake scoop upgrade to pull air in from the top like the late 60 and 70 series. I can't seem to find a part number for that kit online.
I know the bullet rotor was another change in the later units, but when I compared our rotor to a known bullet rotor, they look identical. Our machine does have the bullet rotor decal, so maybe somone put one in before we owned it? Is that something that could have been done?
It sounds like they went from the 8.1 to the 9.0 in '06. Our machine got a Deere reman two years ago and knock on wood, I have no issues with the 8.1. It's been a great machine and I plan on keeping it around for a while, so I don't mind doing upgrades if they are available.
**EDIT** I did end up finding the air scoop kit part numbers. Looks like it would cost around $3,000.
