Our wet year was 73 IIRC. I was only 6 but I remember it well. Dad bought a MF 300 with a 2 row head. Very little tile. Mudded through somehow. Wanted a 3 row head but could not find one. Ran that 300 until he got a brand new 540 in 79. That thing broke down driving it home from the dealer and pretty much every round for the next 15 years.

I vaguely remember picking corn and unloading it in elevators. Corn cribs were mostly places for us to play growing up.


Wet yr. could have been '73...Also traded reliable 510 for a 550 in '79...first time across field cob rakers came out straw chopper, cross auger in bin fell out

Everyday something...Then in '91 got a Deere 9400, not only could you run all day ,but all season without a breakdown
