Switching from 10 to 11 is not automatic and you don't have to do it. Switching might break some older software programs, legacy type software that is not updated might not work with with 11.
Switching settings to 'metered connection' can slow the Windows 10 or 11 auto updates, but they will still happen without editing the registry.
