Brazos Valley | To my knowledge CaseIH hasn’t made a cotton stripper since the late 80s early 90s and I don’t think they ever put a burr extractor on one.
I questioned my relatives story because of the obvious facts mentioned here about market share, development costs etc. I only put stock in what he said because he has nothing to do with agriculture and thought I’d be of interest since I am a washed up gin manager.
I college classmate of mine went to work for Case IH straight out of college as an engineer in the harvest works and in 2013 he told me Case was getting out of the cotton market all together. It stinks for the farmer because you either run a 10 plus year old red basket machine or 5 plus year old Deere basket machine, you buy a $800k picker or you pay to have it harvested.
