Ethanol plants don't want junk corn.
Its bad for the microbes which in turn kills the conversion rate of corn into ethanol.

That is one of the main reasons they try to source corn directly from farmers. As a rule the corn coming out of farmers bins is in better condition than what comes out of elevators.

Elevators try to get rid of the junk that they take in and the junk that they make by blending it off and making more junk, just less concentrated.
