The solar panel farm that is proposed for my area will be planted to naive grass and flowers prior to installation of the panels. The grass and flowers will keep the weeds down, weeds would block the sun rays. No fertilzer, no herbicide, no tillage, no diesel fuel consumption, just harvesting the sunlight. Oh, and a mighty nice paycheck for the landower.

The ONLY reason large solar fields exist is because it is 100% subsidized. There is a 1,600 acre tract of them 1 mile from my farm. They signed up for $900/acre 4 years ago. There are now new proposals going for $4,000/acre. Sucks to be them. Take away the subsidies, solar dies……take away the farmer subsidy……there will still be farmers working the land. Always has been, always will be.
