About 28% of US corn actually becomes ethanol. 40% of US corn goes to an ethanol plant. Of 56 lbs going into the plant about 30% of that goes back out as high protein animal feed. Fits the current system well as the US is, on the whole, long on starch and short on protein to balance animal rations.
