Subject: RE: School shootings

ccjersey - 9/11/2024 18:42 Nobody said anything about GRABBING anyone’s gun. What has been proposed in this discussion is that the AR15 and similar weapons be legal to own only if you meet the heightened registration requirements. Basically that’s paperwork and a fee unless you are a person that shouldn’t have passéd a background check to start with or have shown a judge and law enforcement by your behavior that you should no longer have the right to own the guns you legally purchased. Given that a significant part of the gun community say they have to have their AR15 to prevent the government infringing on their rights, I can see how there can be a showdown. You cannot be a citizen or a patriot and believe the hogwash that the government is going to get you if you don’t have your gun. I think what is happening after each recent child school shooter event where the parents are charged because they provided the weapon will help. If it’s perfectly legal to own one that you have met the background check to own, but when you are connected to one that’s unregistered, you do jail time and pay fines, I think things will take care of themselves.

Very FEW of the 25- MILLION , AR15's in citizens hands are registered -
HOW do you proposed getting them registered?
After the fact registration has proven to be a dismal failure, are you willing to turn 20 million Americans into criminals because you want to change the law after the fact ?
