| It's not really a conventional air seeder, but a homemade attempt at strip till/placement of potash. I'm using john deere single disc fertilizer openers to do this. 100% of the fertilizer and half the rye will go on in rows 20" apart. Most of the time I will be only applying 50-100 pounds of potash with the rye. The most I have ever put down at once was 200 pounds of product and that is why I asked the question this way. Each of my rye/fertilizer rows will be split by a rye only row. Worst case scenario is that these will be the only rows to germinate and I will have a cover crop on 20" centers. I am going from a broadcast method to this. 60# is what I used for this method. Would you scale back to 40#?
Other notes:
Rye rows will be set to 1 inch
Rye/Fert Rows will be Set to 1.5
A single rolling basket will follow to lightly close the trenches. | |
