Paxton, IL | How are you measuring wheelbase of the truck? Some talk about center of steer axle to center between tandems. Others talk about center of steer axle to center of rear axle. I’m not sure which way is “right”, but I believe more “official” measurements reference the center of the tandems.
As I remember, 185” measured to the center of tandems was the minimum wheelbase so you could mathematically bridge 80,000 with a 40’ trailer. I think you’d have a hard time getting 12,000 on the front axle without a little extra room to slide the fifth wheel forward some more though.
I would think 195” to center of tandems would be no problem with a 41” trailer. 195” to the center of rear axle would probably be on the short side of getting the job done.
