I've never understood why people in the flat wet areas like the valley in north dakota don't bed crops. They work it so they may as well be hilled up so the water has somewhere to drain.
I flood irrigate my garden. Keeps water off the foliage and cuts down on disease.

I bed about a 1/3 of my acres and no till the rest. I’ve never understood why guys up north who farm river bottoms, do not bed. Improves drainage and raises soil temperatures. Two of the most critical issues, in corn production. Of course, if you’re not to grade, then a pto ditcher is a must for bedding ground. There’s alot of acres lost up north, because of excessive standing water, that could be eliminated.
