39.48, -82.98 | We spent a week on Manasota Key this summer. Our house was on Lemon Bay. The Gulf was a 150-yard walk down a private path. The key has seven beaches with varying levels of public access. I was stunned how few people were on the (excellent) beach. The area is known for its fossil shark teeth on the beach. It's not crowded, not a honky-tonk, and there's no wax museums or other tourist traps nearby. We definitely will go back. | |
